Two Senior Directors for Policy & Advocacy Leadership Roles

Talent Community Overview

LEE is hiring for two distinct Senior Director roles on our Policy and Advocacy Team to lead the strategy and delivery of member career supports. Both roles report directly to the Vice President, Policy & Advocacy and will evolve our program design strategy so that LEE members, at every stage of their journey, possess the skills, support, and networks necessary to achieve high-impact civic leadership careers. One Senior Director will focus on launching and scaling early- to mid-career pathways, while the other will drive senior-level leadership advancement.

The ideal candidates are mission-driven leaders with a background in policy or advocacy and at least seven years of professional experience in leadership development or talent management, with a proven track record of managing teams to meet ambitious goals.

Senior Director, Career Pathways | Focus Areas: Early- to Mid-Career Member Support

The Senior Director, Career Pathways will lead the team responsible for equipping early- and mid-career members with the civic leadership supports to build careers in government policy or advocacy spaces. This position will design, implement, and evaluate a portfolio of member programs and products for policy and advocacy, including, but not limited to, fellowships, coaching, blended learning programs, tools, and resources that enhance the knowledge, skills, and networks of members to increase access and opportunity in their communities. The Senior Director will provide leadership support and strategic guidance for team members managing LEE’s flagship fellowship programs, including external partner cultivation and member recruitment. This position will leverage LEE’s platform to deliver digital-first content that cultivates member-to-member networks for early- and mid-career members, and will operate with an orientation toward scalability and efficiency, to expand the Policy & Advocacy team’s reach and effectiveness.

The ideal candidate is not only an expert in fellowship programming and budget management, but a proven builder and operator who can engineer and optimize a complex ecosystem of leadership development programs for early- to mid-career professionals.

Senior Director, Leadership Pathways | Focus Areas: Senior-level Career Support & Coaching

The Senior Director, Leadership Pathways will lead the team responsible for equipping senior-level leadership members with the civic leadership supports to advance in government policy or advocacy spaces. This position will design, implement, and evaluate a specialized portfolio of programs, including executive coaching, senior advising, and peer-learning networks designed to successfully navigate the complexities of senior leadership. This role operates with an orientation toward senior-level talent matching and professional mobility, leveraging LEE’s platforms to connect senior members with high-level appointments, board service, and career-defining opportunities. Additionally, the Senior Director will be responsible for developing and executing the strategic coaching elements of the Policy & Advocacy Team, and advising across the entire organization on scaling coaching best practices.

The ideal candidate is not only an expert in executive talent strategy, but a sophisticated relationship manager who can leverage their skills and networks to influence and connect leadership across a complex policy and advocacy ecosystem.

Position Location: Flexible

Travel Requirements: Both positions are expected to travel up to 30% for team retreats, member programs and events, and partner cultivation

Pay and Benefits: The position level of each role is Senior Director 1 and the corresponding salaried pay range is $114,100-$177,240. Pay is competitive and based upon years of relevant work experience and cost of labor for your location.
