Position Summary:
The Director, Platform Automation & Engagement is responsible for enabling relevant, personalized member experiences that support strategic marketing objectives across the entire member journey. Optimizing for relevance, consistency, and scalability, this role leverages marketing technology and data to deliver automated – yet valuable – evergreen experiences to our members across their many segments, and across all their stages of experience with LEE.
This role operationalizes program-specific marketing strategies at scale, ensuring technically sound execution across all member journeys, while strategy, audience selection, and content creation are handled by other teams.
The Director, Platform Automation & Engagement reports to the Senior Director, Platform Engineer & Strategist.

Position Location: Remote
Travel Requirements: 10% or less; anticipated travel for team meetings and retreats (potentially once or twice per year)
Responsibilities:
Automation Strategy & Management (40%)
Serve as the internal expert on LEE’s automation tools, collaborating with staff and vendors to maintain, scale, and optimize the system for organization-wide member engagement
Partner with the Senior Director, Platform Engineer & Strategist, and LEE’s Technology team leader to define and execute implementation, testing, monitoring, and debugging plans to ensure seamless connectivity and reliable member experiences
Translate member journey strategies into automation rules, triggers, and segmented audiences that deliver at scale
Continuously research, recommend, and implement new automation features and platform enhancements to expand organizational capacity for engagement
Provide data-driven recommendations and technical best practices to inform cross-team engagement strategies
Collaborate with the Member Marketing team to ensure content, segmentation, and automation logic are strategically aligned and technically integrated
Campaign Execution & Delivery (30%)
Apply insights into member motivations, challenges, and engagement behaviors to inform automation design and campaign delivery
Build, test, and deploy marketing campaigns and evergreen nurtures to acquire, retain, and re-engage members
Ensure all campaigns are platform-optimized, and designed with UX best practices
Leverage dynamic content and personalization capabilities to increase campaign relevance and scalability across the full spectrum of member engagement
Analysis, Reporting & Optimization (20%)
Partner with cross-team colleagues to track, analyze, and report campaign performance across the member experience
Continuously optimize automation workflows and evergreen campaigns using data-driven insights
Special Projects (10%)
Lead or contribute to team-level, org-wide, or cross-team special projects to accelerate impact as assigned by manager or designee
Provide short-term coverage of other Director-level duties during a leave, vacancy, or PTO
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or commensurate years of work experience (If you do not hold a Bachelor’s degree an additional 4 years of relevant experience is required. If you hold an Associate’s degree an additional 2 years of relevant experience is required.)
5+ years of relevant professional experience including experience in digital marketing, ideally in customer marketing (vs. demand generation)
Deep knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo, and other relevant tools
Expertise in creating complex audience segments, dynamic content, and personalized journeys that successfully engage members or other target audiences
Demonstrated ability to design and optimize full lifecycle campaigns (onboarding, engagement, retention, re-engagement, and win-back)
Strong ability to build dashboards, track KPIs, and design/interpret tests to improve performance
Ability to extend campaigns beyond email to SMS, push, in-app, and social retargeting
Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills without a fear of over communication
Understanding of CAN-SPAM and CCPA; ability to ensure compliant data practices
Extremely detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines
Demonstrated understanding of conversion copywriting and UX best practices
Experience managing email campaigns and email distribution lists
An extremely high bar for quality
Strong, demonstrated commitment to LEE’s mission, core values, and theory of change
Ability to communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team
Experience managing or mentoring team members or cross-functional contributors
Ability to champion new marketing approaches and secure buy-in from diverse stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience working with Salesforce and Segment
Proven experience designing customer journey maps and/or developing experiences that deliver customer value full-journey (i.e., at each stage)
Skilled in evaluating technology vendors, negotiating contracts, and managing budgets
Physical Requirements & Work Demands:
This position is primarily a sedentary role working with colleagues based around the country using remote technologies.
The person in this position will need to have the ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities.

Benefits and Pay
The position level for this role is Director 1 and the corresponding pay range for this position is $81,700-$123,120. Pay is competitive and based upon relevant experience and cost of labor for your location.
